Yellow week at Outline - Development of projects

Dresses made from paper

These images were taking during last week's Yellow Week. During the course of the week students worked on one-week-long assignments in different subject areas and across different departments at the college. The students are purposefully taken of their timetabled session to give them a good impression of what working in the industry would be like, where they are likely to work with a great range of creative from backgrounds in different specialist subject areas. Our arts students worked in groups comprised of students from the performing arts, music, game and sports department. There was a great buzz, energy and excitement throughout Yellow Week as the students took very well to the different skills and challenges, while working and learning confidently alongside each other in groups.

"Big boots to fill" - Graphic design Project

Ashley L
The students had to design a poster which was selling a personalised pair of trainers to one of their fellow students. First the students had to investigate their interests, likes and dislikes. This information was used afterwords to help inform each student to develop first a hand-rendered version and later a digital version of a poster, which had their partner (audience) in mind. Fantastic work, well done!

Research trip to museums in Oxford

Students from AS and A2 Level in Graphic Communication, as well as students from the Subsidiary Diploma in Illustration on a recent research trip to museums in Oxford. The students visited the Ashmolean, the MoMA and the Pitt Rivers Museum. All students used the trip to gather visual research and inspiration for their current projects, with the Pitt Rivers Museum being of particular interest and inspiration due to it's quirkiness and the shear overwhelming amount of pieces of 'everyday usage' that are on show.

The group attentively listening to a brief introduction to the Pitt Rivers Museum given by a member of staff from the educational team.

The group of illustration students was asked to gather research and inspiration for their own character developments, of which there was plenty in the many showcases of the Pitt Rivers Museum.
